Based on photographer John Divola’s ‘Isolation‘ collection, the topographical timeline follows the architectural eras of Palm Springs: Desert Modernism, Spanish Eclectic, Art Deco, Googie, and Tiki. Exploring the same landscape to ground, the context relationship exhibited in Divola’s photograph, each folly interacts with the ground in a specific way: on top, integrated within, levitating above, an extension of, and protruding from. The golf course visually encourages an inward reflection breaking away from the existing context, creating a kitsch constructed oasis, as well as a curated faux fantastical experience for the inhabitant as they progress through the golf course.
