INVISIBLE DIMENSIONS

This urban proposal is situated at the center of multiple incongruent urban pressures that exist between Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, and the Culver City Viaduct. The project, a closed-loop geothermal plant and lowlands rehabilitation center, captures both the residential and industrial scales while positioning itself as a new type of public space. Informed by the infill strategies of existing buildings, the project resolves itself through a series of follies unified by a plinth. Together with the existing train structure, these formal moves create the basis for the building’s transition from warmer to colder months.
